Default DVD-R drive recommendations
Looking for recommendations for Firewire, external DVD-R drives for my Mac.

I did a search on the forum to no avail... if you are happy with your drive, please post what brand you purchased. thanks, -sven

superdrive is a pioneer dvr-103 (or dvr-A03 in retail version). So Pioneer is the best IMHO (compatible with most PCs & MACs). New version is DVR-104 & A04.

I guess my interest is really which drive mechanism to look for in an external firewire DVD-R drive.

My friend is offering me his Pioneer DVR-104 in a nice enclosure for $350, new-in-box... sounds like I will go this route.
