Default Re: Pro Tools and M Audio is completely failing me...severe help needed

yes I do have snow leopard, yes i have the pre release, and yes, the elastic time was set to monophonic...but disabling didn't do anything...It appeared to redraw the waveform where the distortion occurred, but no auditorial difference....

Also, I did contact m audio and it took like 2 weeks for them to tell me i just need to get it repaired. I have no idea where my receipt is, but I know for sure that my warranty is long expired....which is sad because it was acting up a little when I first got it...should've fixed it then.

Thanks for all the help so far guys....I really appreciate it. If anyone else has any insight or idea please let me know. I am planning on buying the fast track ultra 8r, but that may not be for a long while, as its close to 500 bucks. So until then, I'm still trying to solve this problem, and am extremely open to any other suggestions.

did you play around with buffer size settings to get the sound right?

Or try to check/uncheck the "ignore RTAS errors" (or similar) in the playback engine...

Im going to make a copy of this session, and remove all the perfectly fine regions and make it a small file (zip it) and upload it somewhere. If someone downloads this, just let me know if they have the same problem. Like if they listen to the audio files alone and then open it and play it.

I tried recalculating the waveform overviews and it didn't do anything. I haven't dont much with the buffer yet.

Funny thing is, i tried consolidating the regions when making this small session to upload, and it actually wrote the distortion/corruption into the audio files in the folder. So i had to redo it without consolidating. This means that it can't be my m-audios fault, because it actually writes the corruption into the audio file if i consolidate the regions with the corruption. But maybe not, because my time machine backed up the sessions when they were good, and when I recover them from there, there still messed up. IDK, this is crazy...

Im not sure if this will work or not, im uploading my stuff to mediafire...

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=c...4e75f6e8ebb871

or

http://uploading.com/files/c389c8am/...2BRemoved.zip/

sorry about the size, I was able to reduce it from 252 mbs to about 30....

Please look into your audio files folder if the files are read only...

I hate to be so dependent, but how do I go about doing this? Is it in the get info section? I checked the get info (of the audio files folder) in the shared and permissions and it says I can read and write. The stationary pad isn't checked.

I tried reimporting the audio files and this fixes it, but its not the answer because I absolutely cannot figure how I edited the audio regions. I made so many punch ins and groups and whatnot that even if I reimport them, I can't get them to be the way they were...

WOW! I tried this again and it fixed the problem (so far) this time. I must have clicked commit when removing the elastic time, instead of revert. Why is this happening? Is it a pre - release problem?

Sorry I didn't try this more carefully.
