Default GPI Talkback State

I have a rather odd problem to solve. Here is the system info:

2018 Mac Pro
PT version 2022.5
Dadman Version 5.4.5
Matrix IO with 3 input and 3 output cards
Sync X

I have an audio control room with a producer's desk and a video control room.
I am installing talkback triggers at the producer's desk and in the video control room.
I have figured that out. That's the easy part.

What I am hoping to do is be able to read the talkback state, so that I can install a light that will alert the users that talkback is on so they remember to turn it off.

In the S6 user's guide p.238 there is a chart that defines pins 18 and 6 as GPIO 1 A and B,
and says the function is "talkback", but there is no other info about what that means.
This seems to indicate that I could read the talkback state through those pins,
but does anyone have any experiance with this?

Yes, you can indeed trigger lights with the S6 GPO. We run two separate lights per studio - recording lights outside each control room and recording room doors, and a signal light inside the recording rooms indicating playback/pre-roll/record/ talkback (we’re using these).
