Default uses for de-esser

One normally thinks of a deesser as being useful only for dialogue, for managing dialogue sibilance. However, i recently discovered that a deesser is excellent for taking the edge off footsteps and paper crunching sounds. Are there any other uses you have for your deesser that I haven't thought of?

thanks

John

I shoot railway videos and I've found a de-esser is great for reducing the high pitched sound of steam being released from the cylinder cocks and safety valves of steam locomotives.

I don't use a de-esser anymore. I get much better results with Izotope RX.

I once had to edit and mix some Poker After Dark episodes and the noise of the chips was maddening. I used a de-esser to tame that frequency and it allowed the fidgeting of the chips to be more in the background compared to the talking.
