Default Point releases moving forward. Confused.

I'm a little confused about PT 12 moving forward, do I need to pay for point releases for a version of software that is addressing bugs of that version.

If we are buying software or any other service that does not do or perform as advertised why should I pay again for that software to perform correctly ?

This is not new features but the features that were advertised and paid for !

Does anyone know what this is about ?

I gotta say this new business model does not feel like its going too be fair to the user.

Yes.

Going forward every "point" release of the software will require you to either buy an upgrade or be covered under an upgrade/subscription/support plan, even for fixes to bugs that were present in the software that you already paid for to be working correctly.

Welcome to the new Avid.

See my thread http://duc.avid.com/editpost.php?do=...post&p=2302706
Asking specifically about the two different prices where the mod and one other stated it will be $399 annual renew fee.

BUT the 800lb gorilla in the room is WILL AVID HONOR THIS for at least one renew cycle OR will they RENEGE like they apparently have on free bug fix .dot releases and have no HONOR

don't give them money and they might change their minds .. i am guilty of giving them money because i have several people that let me be their beta testers for new OS's and PT updates ..

but if were on HD i would wait as long as possible to update .. a show of force / community, will have an impact on their bottom line .. and they are thinking about their bottom line alot right now ..

just my .02
