Default Help: Mbox2 USB power problem from IMac

I'm a digidesign newbie, so all insight and assistance is greatly appreciated!

I have a 24" IMac that doesn't seem to power my MBox2. I have it plugged in directly to the USB port, and have tried all three ports, but with no luck of getting power to the MBox2. The computer recognizes that the MBox is attached, but doesn't seem to want to power it.

I have an older PowerBook that powers the MBox2, but the power lights flash on and off.

Should I try a powered USB Hub, even though the manual suggests against it?

I am FAR from being a computer expert, so all help would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance!
