Rabbi:

Make sure your Triton or USB interface has the current drivers installed. Without system details there is not much more I can say. I have experienced some MIDI communication problems from time to time (mostly user error). One thing to try is to unplug your MIDI interface device and then plug it back in. Just a thought. It works for me--system details below.

...why don't you use an Instrument track, instead of an Audio track?
I've noticed that about a lot of my PTHD clients. They're quite used to doing it the way they do it, and have a very difficult time changing.

Hi
I seem to be having a problem with pro tools 7 and rtas instruments. The spectrasonics atmosphere and trilogy, as well as native Komplete 2 do not produce any sound in 7.

Any ideas or advice. I already havethe latest available updates.

cheers
wiggzaro

Howdy,
I had the same problem with the Trilogy Bass plugin.
Just assign your instrument track input to the master.
On my HD system it's: A 1-2

I imported some midi tracks and pointed the output to the instrument tracks to be triggered.

Hope this helps.

Thanks GuyPicks! I've tried everything. I would have never got Trilogy to work had I not read your post! Saved a song for me! Much appreciated!

Some RTAS stuff is very stabile. Impact! and NI's B4 II, the M-Audio stuff demonstrate to me that it's really a third party issue...and some seem better than others. Arturia is one of the worst, the more so because their stuff sounds cool...I have been unable to use ANY of their VI's without constant crashes...CS80, with its' so-called PT7 version is completely out of the question. MOTU is a little better...Symphonic instrument's new rev seems OK, Mach5 is so-so. You need to reduce buffer sizes to cut the midi stuff, then raise it to help with stability. I wish there was at least some third-party standard for RTAS, some developer guidelines...and i wish that companies like Arturia would FIX what they've got before rushing to make new, broken instruments.
This is my experience as well...Reason, Spectrasonics are rock solid. BFD and Kontakt are completely unstable. And yes, Arturia is a disaster! The RTAS code is ten years old and buggy to it's core. My solution is to offload VIs to a second computer and run a VST shell. This is a major P.I.T.A. Digi will never be taken seriously by composers if they can't ramp up the RTAS shell.

I can't even get any of my native instruments keyboards to show up as a plug in for Pro Tools. What folder should my vst's be in?

Pro Tools does not work with VST plug-ins, only RTAS.

Thanks I knew I was an idiot. I had found that but thought it was only for FXexpansion products. Thanks for dealing with the newbie!
