PS: I also vote for the option to lock any tool - and the pre- and post-roll setting - so everybody can customize Pro Tools the way they prefer to work.

Ok, I think there is a confusion here.
I use the smart tool... plenty ...lots of smart tooling going on here.
That is not the issue.
This design flaw superceeds EVERYONES style of work.
IF you don't notice the flaw, then live with it alone and be happy.
Ive seen many a pro tooler, who doesn't consider it a flaw. fall victim to it.
IT really is a flow killa, and screws EVERYONE... even if they dont notice it.
There is no possible reason to consider the option to lock the tools a bad idea.
The only issue to is WHEN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

You could use the screen mapping. But then, every session would have to have the windows in the exact same spot on your screen for that to work...so....doesnt work.
Chompers, it DOES work here. I can drag around the edit window and it still works. This is for PT 7.4, maybe there's something different in 8?

TWO YEARS Ha Ha Ha ha.

Chompers, you need to come up with a real good work-around, 'cause Digidesign will give you that feature in 2026, AT THE EARLIEST, but probably longer because they seem to be short staffed these days, totally unable to fix the most catastrophic of problems in under 2 years, much less ergonomic tool preferences.

It took PT composers ****17 years***** to get Digidesign to give us the VITAL ability to be able to just mute a damn midi note. Did you get that? 17 years!!! Digi is sloooooooooooooooooooo

Once more.... S E V E N T E E N YEARS

It just took Digidesign over two years to get MBox2's not to crash Intel Macs 10 times a day when using Core Audio. Two years...crashing all day... everyday. Don't believe me?

Chompers, get real...plan for 2026, if anyone in the music industry even has enough money to by ProTools by then.

The signup process at bbs.macrosonline.net people say is tricky. Someone explains it in here somewhere. I'm not the guy running that site.

If you're running Quickeys, you REALLY want to run QuicKeys, not just with one shortcut, but with 20 or more, so therefore you'll want to sign up to bbs.macrosonline.net for sure. It will give you a steam-powered catapult start that the rest of us QK users wished we had.

Cool, I logged in.

Yeah, Ive been using quickeyes for many years. I have created a shortcut for this issue before. However, it wasnt fast enough not to screw things up.
Im about to try the one posted.

Thanks
