Default using virus in Logic (again)

thanks to those who replied previously
I now understand that both OMS and the built in midi drivers both need to be switched on and that you use the plug-in on an aux. track
what I don't get is how you route the external midi signal to that aux. track. In the PT software you simply set the output of the midi track to 'virus'. can you do the same thing in logic??
thanks again

this is not very elegant in logic, but it works really good.
you will have to create a new instrument in any enviroment. then, after the virus is instancinated in an aux track, you can select in the parameters section of this instrument (you have to select the instrument again in the environement you created it!) virus as your midiport.
then you have to create a track in the arrange window and select the newly created instrument( should be in the subfolder"Midi Instruments")

hope that was clear ....?

You dont have to put the virusplug onto an aux track anymore. Any audio track works fine.

This is how I do it:

Choose "Use Built-in & OMS" in MIDI Interface communication

Create a Virus Instrument in your Environment, map to Virus1a

Create an Aux Track and instanciate the Virus TDM Plug-in

Virus will show up in the list of available MIDI Instrument choices in the Arrange on a Track. Make sure you are choosing the appropriate instrument on the track in the Arrange Window.

You can email me at alaluna@pacbell if you need

thanks again for the advice. The village idiot has almost got this sorted now!
I'm now getting midi into the plug-in (flashing light) but no audio out. Any idea why this might be?? Is there any special routing necessary?
