Session reference mismatch
Has anybody seen this message:
"A mismatch has been detected between the incoming video reference signal and the Video Ref Format setting in Session Setup. Although the Clock Source is locked, this system may not play in perfect sync with other systems. Please double check your configuration" Nothing has changed from 2 days ago. This happened a few weeks ago when I tried to install the updated Dolby Atmos Production Suite. I thought it was that. I loaded my backup system at the time and everything went back to normal until now. I just updated ProTools to 2019.12 but it worked fine with the new ProTools version on Monday. Now I'm getting this message again. Everything seems to be locked. I went back to 2019.10 and I still get the message. It happens as soon as ProTools is launched, then again once a session is opened. Doesn't matter if there's video in the session. Running a Syncheck file, the system plays perfectly in sync. Any ideas? Re: Session reference mismatch
Booted from an external system running PT 2018.10.
Same session and everything works fine. Stayed booted into that drive but loaded 2019.10 from the original system. Same session but now I get the 'Frame mismatch' error. Very strange. Re-booted in to the internal system drive. Un-installed the HD driver, Deleted all Avid pref files, and AVID and Digi support files in the Library and User-Library. Re-installed ProTools 2019.12 Same error. |

Re: Session reference mismatch
I've always had ProTools set to "1080 psf - 23.976"
I powered everything up yesterday and it all works fine again. No error. Very strange. |

Re: Session reference mismatch
Yes
Well my Blackmagic generator is set to 23.98psf, and I'm set on ProTools to "1080i - 47.952 / 1080psf-23.976" It's been set this way with a 23.976 picture since ... well always! Never been an issue. I usually power my entire system off after working for the day. I left it on the past couple days and haven't had the error. Maybe something isn't waking up properly on power up. Sync HD maybe? Although even when I get the error, putting Syncheck up everything is perfectly in sync with no drift. Also, if I boot into the other system drive I don't get the error. Thanks for the info. When I get the error again I'll try cycling the power on the entire system and see what happens. |

I don't know. That's the menu choice.

Re: Session reference mismatch
That's very true.
This is a setting that I settled on between Avid and Blackmagic years ago when they were having problems with the AVE and I could not get things in sync. This was what worked and I've never changed it. (Unless I'm working in 24 fps of course) I changed the Blackmagic sync generator to 23.98 (not psf) and did the same with ProTools and everything seems to stay in sync. Let's see how this goes. Thanks, Vince |
