DANGER!! DANGER!! DANGER!!

One's Perpetual license is swapped/surrendered (lost!) with this "Crossgrade" offer:

"***Crossgrade for registered owners of Pro Tools Perpetual
This crossgrade is for owners of Pro Tools Perpetual (especially where the Support/Upgrade plan has expired). With this crossgrade you receive a 2-year subscription of Pro Tools including AVID's Support and Updates plan. For the duration of two years you have access to support directly from AVID, and will be able to upgrade to the latest versions via download as soon as they are released."

Yes, I'm sorry unkJE. I failed to notice. That explains the price.

But again, confusion. Easy to get confused. One wonders if it's a strategy or just bad work.

I feel it’s Avid’s responsibility to insist that Resellers mention the Crossgrade Terms & Conditions in their ads.

History:

Otherwise, as Tom Waits noted:
'The large print giveth and the small print taketh away.'

I think the answer is easy..If you can still buy it on resellers website (sweetwater etc..) or Avid then you're good.

Thats true, your old perpetual licence is surrendered BUT you get a new perpetual licence, I wont be renewing the support plan at the end of next year, yet I get to keep my perpetual Pro Tools studio licence, an upgrade from Pro Tools 12, and I still have Pro Tools 12 in the bundle if I wish to use it on an older computer.

Please don't add more confusion to this than there already is. UnkJE is right, a so-called "crossgrade" is when you "surrender" your perpetual license and in return get a subscription for cheap for a year or two, and then it's a fixed monthly/annual price, and if you want a perpetual license you'll have to buy a completely new one at full price!

Sorry, not trying to confuse things, I have surrendered my Pro Tools 12 and updated to Pro Tools Studio perpetual, if I dont renew in a year all I lose is the support plan and plug in bundle and Melodyne, though I get to keep Pro Tools Studio perpetual licence.

That's what's known as a 'reinstatement' (actually Avid recently begun referring to it as an 'update'), where you pay to get current with your perpetual w/expired update/support plan. And, in practice you did not surrender v12 because you can run all versions back to 12 with a perpetual license. Not so with a subscription.

Are you sure you'll lose the bundled plugins?
