Default trading in 001

I need a little advice. I bought an 001 in January. I'm realizing that it is probably more than what I need and I would like to sell it. I never registered it with DIGI. Can I sell it to someone so that they can trade it in? Do I need to register it first and then transfer the registration, or will they be able to register it themselves?

And what do you think the market value on a like new digi-001 is? And has it gone up due to the trade in package?

Do the numbers, the trade-in won't drive the market for used 001's up. The trade-in works out to about $300 for an 001.

Keep in mind most of the people shopping eBay don't know the current status of the 001, once it becomes common knowledge the prices will dip.
Also as more people put theirs on eBay the supply will also affect the prices.
If you are thinking about eBay everyday you delay could lose you money.
With eBay becoming more and more of a hunting ground for pretators the safe $300 from Digi doesn't look bad, in other words less money but less headache.
I recently dealt with 2 deadbeat bidders and it can be a pain in the _ _ _

What do you mean "the status of the 001"? did digi stop making it? I don't think that would hurt your resale value on eBay. don't go for a crappy $300 from Digi when you could get at least $450-$500+ out of it on ebay. with it being unregistered you will probably only loose about $100. that is if you didn't pay too much for it to start with. After all that has been said, what is "the status of the 001"? I wana know becouse I own one. Justin....

The status of the 001 is that it's listed under 'legacy products' - which I take to mean 'no longer in production.'

I'm keeping mine...For the amount of I/O I have I can't get anything to replace it for anywhere near the $$ I would get for it and it works fine..I've made a lot of good music with it..I suggest you all think about it before abandoning it just to get the newest thing out. The Digi001 is PLENTY for most of you.

I would day ebay would be a good bet. My experience with ebay is the prices for a used item usually end up being very close and sometimes more than a new one once shipping is factored in. Mind you I am in Canada so if Customs opens the package then taxes are added as well.
More money for a used product with no warranty.
Also you might get real lucky and get an ebay moron who bids himself up 10 times.
Sweetwater will sell a 001 for 750.00 shipping included.
One on ebay might go for 500 bucks. Add 30 for shipping, 75 to upgrade to 6.1, and another 70 bucks for taxes. So to only save 75 bucks for something new doesnt make sense.

The appeal of the 001 in the used market is going to change once people understand why it was discontinued.
The price of a downgraded 1.6Ghz G5 is $1,770.00 and will look good to a lot of first time buyers who won't be able to use an 001.

Well, business will continue as always. I personally probably won't go for a G5. With the introduction of the Clawhammer, and then the inevitable Intel attempt to jump the competition with some new processor yet to be discussed, PC's will be back in on the argument for best machine.

Our TDM system core and farm cards won't work in these future comps, so I don't see any reason to make the leap to a 64 bit until we up to HD, which won't be for a long while. Who knows, maybe by then we'll have support for distributed processing over a network and then I'll beat everybody's *****!
