Default Duplicate midi tracks won't ungroup for editing

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this in 12.4: attempting to separate merged midi info on one track to two separate tracks not being allowed

1. record a simple midi track, say kik and snare for example, using midi controller while triggering an external synth module (for example, JV-5080 channel 10)
2. duplicate the midi track (track - duplicate)
3. using selector tool erase midi data from one track for just one of the performed midi parts on duplicate track (for example, snare).
4. snare midi notes also become deleted from unselected source track.
5. creating a new midi track and copying/pasting the midi info from the first track yields the exact same behavior.

Only workaround I have found to work so far is to select the source merged midi track and do a midi export to hd (type 0) then do a file-import midi to create the duplicate track, at which point selector tool deletes chosen midi without affecting source track.

Bueller?

Default Re: Duplicate midi tracks won't ungroup for editing

I just tried it and it worked fine . To make sure we are on the same page

I set up a stereo instrument track and instantiated SSD drum sampler on it played a bar of kick and snare from my Akai M249 keyboard

Hit duplicate track.

Double clicked the first track to open midi edit window, selected the snare part and deleted it

The kick and snare were still showing in the dup track, so I double clicked it and selected the kick part and deleted it

I then had the kick notes on the first track and the snare notes on the dup track.

Update: I just tried creating two stereo instrument tracks and playing notes into the fist track, then copying and pasting the notes into the second track and then deleting the snare from one and the kick from the other that also worked fine.

Then I tried it with mono instrument tracks and that worked

And finally I created one stereo instrument track and two midi tracks . Recorded into the instrument track, copy and pasted into both midi tracks. Deleted everything from the instrument track ,then deleted the snare from one midi track and the kick from the other and that worked fine also

So I am guessing it is not PT12.4 but something you are or are not doing or a glitch specific to your system or install.
Sorry I guess that is not much help .

On the MIDI Editor window, unselect the "Mirrored MIDI Editing" button.
