He probably needs MADI.

That’s the only difference between the two. That and TB which would be required for throughput for the extra channels that MADI adds.

I don’t need MADI, so went with UFXII.

I went UFX+.... for MADI. MADI is just a core strength/attraction of RME in the first place.

Definitely a selling point if you’re going to make use of it. I wouldn’t.

TBH - I still haven’t made use of the interface. Still sitting in the box 4 months on.

No downtime for changes. Ugh…

I guessed MADI would be the reason for UFX. Sounds like I'll be fine with UFXII for my use case.

I agree with Darryl RE clocking.

However I really can't blame RME for pushing into the hifi market. Have you seen what those folks pay for components? If I were in a company selling audio interfaces you can bet I'd take one, give it a paint job and a mystical name and sell it for twice the price at a hifi store. Not to say that's what RME have done but I sure would.

Back to topic UFXII is great if you don't need the MADI.

I don't blame RME... I think its good they are going after the Hi Fi market... stuff I see as ranging from sensible folks who care about audio quality to raving loons at the extreme audiophile end. I do hope RME avoids over pandering to the loons, but hey by all means take their money

In the meantime I have some ceramic speaker cable isolators to set up, and then I am going to install a new master clock that a sales rep told me will make things sound more "transparent" and "honest".

Don’t forget your premium IEC and Optical cables.
