Upgrading in the middle of a project (6.0-6.7)
I'm currently in the middle of an important project and I need to upgrade in order to run certain plug-ins.
I need Auto Tune but It's not available for 6.0 so I've decided to upgrade to 6.7. I'm currently running 6.0.2 on 10.2.8. I just bought version 6.7, and OS 10.3.7. My question is if I upgrade will I lose anything? I want to be able to open up my sessions and have them exactly as they were before. Same automation, plug settings, levels, ect. The only difference should be I'm in 6.7 instead of 6.0. Is this possible? I plan on: Installing the new OSX software (10.3.7), then installing PT 6.7 software. After that when I click on my session files everything should come up exactly as it did before, right? Thanks for any help. |

Changing horses in the middle of the race is always dangerous.
Just too many unexpected things can happen and mess up the project. |

Re: Upgrading in the middle of a project (6.0-6.7)
Ive recently done this also, went from 6.4 to 6.7 because I need a few new features.... smack in the middle of a very important project. That doesn't mean it will work for you, and as most other round here, I would never recommend it, but if YOU MUST then I suggest getting and learning to properly use Carbon Copy Cloner (assuming your using OS X .3 or better) - it's free (well... donationware, which if I use it, I donate). It takes 15 minutes to mirror your drive with this... I swear by it - and - it is a lifesaver!!!! Mirror your current install, then do your upgrade, This way if it doesn't work, it will take literally 15 minutes to get you back to where you are right now. (must have a firewire drive to do it - and freshly formatted and free of errors!!)
Good Luck!! Eric

Re: Upgrading in the middle of a project (6.0-6.7)
In spite of all instincts and countless warnings about doing what you describe, I upgraded from 6.4 to 6.7 AND went to OS X 10.3.5 all at the same time. Proving that once in a while, God smiles on the foolish, everything went perfectly.
Your results may vary.
