Space bar and zero key not working

Hi all,

Newbie here. I downloaded the Pro Tools Ultimate trial 2022.10 back in December and all was fantastic on MacOS Monterey (Intel chip, late 2017 iMac). Just before the trial ended I bought a Pro Tools Studio subscription.

A few days later 2022.12 came out, so I upgraded. Everything seemed ok, though I think I only tried to launch Pro Tools but didn't actually play anything. Then a few days later I upgraded to MacOS Ventura since 2022.12 supports it.

Now the space bar and the zero key on the number pad don't work. But the play button in the top transport menu works.

I have checked the OS key mappings and there are no conflicts.
I tried it with multiple sessions, happens with all of them.
Tried a new session with just one track, still happens.
Reset the I/O settings, still happens.
Trashed preferences, still happens.
Set buffer size to 1024, still happens.
Verified that count down is off, still happens.
Toggled the a/z button, still happens.
Rolled back to 2022.10 (on Ventura), still happens.
Reinstalled 2022.12 on Ventura, still happens.
Opened a support case, but we're playing phone tag

My setup is just my iMac and headphones, super simple.

What am I missing? This is nuts!

Same problem here. ProTools 2022.12 on Monterey. Numpad transport works though.

I'm not sure if it works for you yet, but the same just happened to me. I recently update to the version 2023 in my Macbook Pro. Please follow the next steps:

Ctrl + Shift + K (Mac) to open the Shortcut window.
In the "Category" column on the left-hand side, select "Transport".
In the "Command" column, find the "Play" command.
Click on the empty box in the "Shortcut" column next to the "Play" command.
Press the spacebar on your keyboard to assign it as the shortcut for playback.
Click "OK" to save your changes.
Once you have assigned the spacebar shortcut to the Play command, you should be able to use the spacebar to start and stop playback as usual.

This is suddenly happening to me in one large-ish 5.1 session. Fine in other simpler sessions. Clicking on play with the mouse plays. Using the Space Bar does not. Have trashed prefs. Any ideas?

Hello, now the space bar works but only when the Edit Window is active - not when looking at the Mix Window. The play icon doesn't even flash green.
Running a pretty simple Stereo session, 48k 24bit
Any ideas?

Should there be a Mix Keyboard Focus 'A-Z' icon in the top right corner of the mix page?

Because I can't see one - is that why space bar won't operate start/ stop when the Mix rather than Edit window is active?

So since I posted, the keyboard shortcut trick din't work,. I had to downgrade from PT 2022.12 to 2022.9. Didn't fix it either. Downgraded to 2022.7 and it fixed the problem.
But I needed ProTools Audio Bridge. So upgraded to 2022.9... and the spacebar is functioning.

But now, in the last hour, it happened on another computer (my personal one) right in the middle of nowhere, as I was playing back my session. I am on Ventura, PT 2023.3.
I followed and retried Aufioeng94's post and, phew, it worked for the spacebar. But I still can't regain Numpad 0.
