no midi input .. OMS problem ?
hi there
i connected the digi to a brand new supernova II but with PT LE i'm not able to see any midi activity !!! i was able to make it work with logic ( i went to the environment/oms objects, i create a 001 midi and i cabled the SNV with the digi, but i'm not so sure that's the right way to use logic... ) but with PT there's no way to make it work ... my oms setup is very simple : i created a new device connected with the digi driver , configuring all as i read in the manuals ... but i was unlucky .. please ... someone can help me ? logic is too much difficult for me , i hoped PT was better ... josh |

Re: no midi input .. OMS problem ?
Hey joshua7,
I don't know if other people have had the same problem, but my roommate and I both have digi001 systems, and both have had to do 2 installs of the program before MIDI would work for us. In other words, intall pro-tools LE, and then after restarting, run the installer again. This happened to me when I upgraded to 5.0.1 as well, just some sort of bug I guess. This might not solve your problem, but it's worth a shot I think. ------------------ Slim |

Re: no midi input .. OMS problem ?
Hey Josh,
I can think of a couple of things. One is...just in case...you have to record enable a track to hear any midi. Number one...make sure your keyboard is set to "midi" not local. Number two...make a new track (midi). Number threre...record enable the track by punching the rec button next to the track. Now you should hear some midi. If you don't...then..your OMS is not setup properly. PT uses OMS for midi info. It comes on the PT cd..but is a seperate install. You have to install OMS first before installing PT. Then..setup OMS. Then..install PT. Logic doesn't have to use OMS..this is probably why you were able to get it to work. There are instructions in your PT manual on how to do this. ITs not hard. The only tricky thing..may be...finding..or making a device name list for your keyboard..if its not already listed in the OMS factory names library. If you need help with this...post back dcornutt |

Re: no midi input .. OMS problem ?
Its definately in OMS somewhere...as PT gets all its midi info from OMS.

Re: no midi input .. OMS problem ?
Does MIDI playback work, but not input? If so, make sure you enabled a MIDI controller in the Input Devices dialog in the MIDI menu.

Re: no midi input .. OMS problem ?
hi, thx for your replies !
i solved the problem ( but i don't really know how ) creating a new oms setup (but precisely as the old one) and it worked for a while .. but now, there's nothing to do : PT , Cubase and logic don't have a midi input ... the steps i follow are : - i create a new setup - oms find a midi device ( the digi 001) and i see its icon - i add a new device with the all 16 midi channels assigned - turn off the use the serial dma in the preferences - save the setup then i turn on PT ... i create only a midi track ( to see if it works) that use any midi input and there's nothing to do ... there's no input ... so ... do u use the digi also for the midi or u have another midi device ??? cause i begin thinking that digi for the midi is not the right choice ... josh |
