Default lost audio files

today I opened a session I have been working on for some time and one track was missing and I automatically couldn't locate it. I searched for some suggestions online and tried the "force relink" approach. I made it through all the steps except the last one which was dragging the file into the candidates section for relinking. It didn't want to go. Alas, before I cut my loss and re-record it I was hoping someone in the group might have a suggestion. This happened a few times on my old PT 5.6 set up but it's the first time in a year and a half since I have been running 12.5.2
thanks for your time

The relink window (or alternately the session browser) will show you the previous path of the missing file - perhaps this will help you track it down.

oddly enough, I just dragged the files from the clip list onto the track and they worked,(even though they were in italics). I guess I just assumed nothing was in them. hmm

I lost files like that and what I was doing when I was in another file I would bnc a file out of the folder to another location. When I would open another file and say bnc a track that would stay in that file, the bnc location was still from the file before. Before I bnc now I make sure I know where it is going. I make sure that the file goes in the Bounced File folder in the Session.
