Default Pro Tools 10.3.8 Driver/DIGI 002 Finale 2012 problem SOLVED!

Pro Tools 10.3.8.378, Finale 2014 and Finale 2011 all run fine with no odd crashes.

However, when I boot up Finale 2012, it crashes, and the crash log cites DIDI 002 as a problem.

I am running:

Mac OS X 10.85
Pro Tools 10.3.8.378
Pro Tools Drivers 10.3.3
Finale 2012c.r13

And of course…Pro Tools is not booted up at this time. I have no other programs open while I am booting Finale 2012.

Questions:

1. Am using the latest Drivers for Pro Tools 10.3.8.378? If not, where can I find them as I can only locate a Download for Drivers 10.3.3?

2. Is this a problem with the Drivers, or is this a Finale 2012 problem?

Dan

What device are you using for sound playback with Finale?

Could you please post the data from the crashed thread in the crash log?

I am using the DIGI 002 as the Playback Device.

The Crash File is quite big so I broke it into two parts. Crash Log is attached.

Thanks,
Dan

What happens if you use something else as the playback device?

Apple code is being executed when the crash occurs.

I don't see any way I can change Playback Devices for Finale 2012.

Inside of Finale 2012 I have the Audio device [Playback Engine] set for DIGI 002.

If the program always crashes upon boot-up then I can never get "inside" to change the Audio device [Playback Engine,] even if I change my Audio In/Out source in my Mac System Prefs.

If you disconnect the DIGI 002 and launch Finale, does it crash? If not, that would be your opportunity to change the Audio device to Built-In, quit, connect the DIGI 002, and launch Finale again to see if the mere presence of the DIGI 002 is causing the crash.

That solved that. I disconnected the DIGI 002 and Finale 2012 fired up perfectly.

I created a New Document in Finale 2012 and started working—all was normal.

I Shut Down the computer, reconnected and turned ON the DIGI 002, re-Started my computer, booted up Finale 2012—and Crash!.

So…the DIGI 002 is causing the problems.

Do know that before I Upgraded to Pro Tools 10.3.8.378, Finale 2012 worked like a charm, for three years—all the ska computer, the DIGI 002, and everything else.

Where do I go from here?

Many thanks for you time and work,
Dan

Or Finale is interacting with the DIGI 002 in such a way that it's causing a problem. I'm not trying to defend Avid. While we do know that the presence of the DIGI 002 reproduces the problem, it's difficult to say the DIGI 002 is broken or that the driver is faulty. Does the DIGI 002 work with Pro Tools v10.3.8 without a problem?

There are two paths to take now. One is to open a ticket with whoever makes Finale, the other is to open an Avid Support Case (ASC) with Avid. I will bring this thread to the attention of the super-mods. That's all I can offer at this point.

It sounds like you have the correct 002 driver installed, but you might want to reinstall:
Digi 002 and 003 Drivers

The DIGI 002 works perfectly with Mac OS X 10.85, Pro Tools 10.3.8.378, Pro Tools Drivers 10.3.3, Finale 2011, Finale 2014, Sibelius 7, iTunes, and all Internet audio, such as youtube.
