Default HELP - HOW DO I USE AUDIO INSTRUMENT PLUG INS

HI, i am new to Protools, and was wandering if anyone can help me. I used to us Logic and Cubase. I have been having trouble in using Audio INstruments like Mini Moog. I currently have a digidesign 002R rack. and for midi i am using a 4 x 4 midi SPort. Midi works fine,

What i do is select an audio track, and then select MiniMoog from the Plugins menu, which is all fine, liek you would do with Reason. When the Mini Moog comes up i can press the vertual keys, which makes the audio work. That is all cool.

But my problem is getting it to work with my external Keyboard. There seems to be no way in selecting which Midi Port to us, to play the softsynth from my external Keyboard. Can anyone explain how i will make this work, Where do i put the note information stuff like that

I would realy appreciate anyones help

You have to create a MIDI track, assign its input to whichever MIDI input your keyboard is using. Then create an Aux input and insert your plugin on that. You set the output of The MIDI track to the input of the AUX input.Record enable the MIDI track and away you go.Make sure MIDI thru is checked in the MIDI menu.

...and don't forget, when you create a new Aux Input, it's level control is turned right down so you'll need to turn it up before you'll hear any of Bob's Oscillations....

HI i have finally got round to trying to us audio instruments, and i got it to work on an audio track. I followed the instructions, by creating Midi Track, and then aux track. I assinged midi in on the midi track, then the output to the Moog. The moog was selected in the Aux track. with the output going to outputs audio 1 and 2. I also turned up the Aux track volume. But no sound came out, i know that protools worked, as wave files played. when i had moog on the audio track it worked. The Midi volume meter on the midi track went up and down, when i played the Keys. but no sound on the Moog, the Moog keys even pressed in when i played my Keyboard

What am i doing wrong

Enable Record on the MIDI track - that should do it.

The MIDI level bounced when you played the keys, but the level on the aux track didn't? Things to check:
- the output of the MIDI track is assigned to the sound module you've got on the AUX?
- if the AUX has an input assigned, change to none. If it's set to NONE, try assigning it an input. A couple of synths exhibit different behavior here.
- under the MIDI menu, try both settings for MIDI THRU

Try changing your Monitoring from Auto Input to Input Only.
