Default MIDI without PT6.4 installed? (ASIO)

'lo.

I've just upgraded to XP and whilst I await the arrival of new stock of the PT6.4 CDs at Digidesign UK, I've installed the ASIO and Wavedrivers downloaded from the digidesign website.

It all works great soundwise but I have no MIDI ports appearing in any programs so I can't play instruments using my keyboard - I'm having to do it all by hand in grid editors.

Any help on this one. Am I missing something or do I need to wait for the 6.4 CD?

Many thanks,

Ootini

Can't you download 6.4 from the website?

Sadly not. I need a V6 serial number and the only way to get that is to pay for the upgrade which they are out of stock of.

I'm just wondering if there's a work-around in the meantime.

I'm using Reason if that helps any.

Ootini.

Can't you just reinstall your previous version of PT's until you get your upgrade?

Right now I can't find my V5 Getting Started guide to download the right V5 version. Plus I've spent a long time trying to get XP up and running dual booted etc... and I'm not entirely sure the V6 asio drivers are compatible with V5 Pro Tools installations.

Digidesign say it will only be 10-14 days until the new CDs arrive. So I can wait. I'd just like to be able to use my MIDI in the mean time.

Since you obviously must have an 001 (otherwise you either wouldn't have MIDI ports or the update to 6.x would be free).. the upgrade for you should only be $35
