Pro Tools Perpetual Upgrade-2023

I have owned a Pro Tools Studio Perpetual Upgrade EDU for Students & Teachers license for a few years but expired January 2022. I have since retired from from work and would imagine that I no longer qualify for an EDU license. Is this correct? Can you please confirm. If this is the case how do I upgrade my EDU license? Thanks

Hello Steveski

We normally offer an Edu to Commercial upgrade if the license has expired and is still within the grace period. This is an upgrade for those that are no longer in education or have retired.

Can you email me directly your MyAvid email address and I can check on your license and see if there is anything I can do to hep with this?

I'm at a loss with an upgrade I bought from a reseller in Paris, the invoice states this : AVID - PRO TOOLS STANDARD REINSTATEMENT

I bought it in a hurry to setup my HDX, and it wasn't the right one.
I have since then upgraded my HD10 to Ultimate, so that is done.

But I am trying to sell it to someone who might use it.
I was told by the reseller that it is a reinstatement for a Pro Tools Studio Perpetual for all updates and assistance and new plug-ins. Is that the case ?

The code you purchased is for expired updates and support plan of a perpetual license for Pro Tools Studio.

Those who have a Pro Tools Studio perpetual license with expired updates/support plan should be able to use it.

I see the two options are "License Upgrade" and "1-Year Subscription, Paid Upfront."

What is a license upgrade? Just an upgrade to the current PT version and nothing else? What if you buy the license upgrade before a new version to you is out?

The subscription makes sense though, but not certain what a license upgrade is!

If you don't renew your Perpetual Licence, you lose the ability to upgrade beyond the last version you have while still receiving "Support and Upgrades". You also lose the ability to raise a support ticket. You also lose access to the PlugIn bundle and HEAT, but good luck working out what that actually means in practice. (It used to be possible to subscribe to just the PlugIn bundle for about $50 a year - https://www.avid.com/plugins/avid-co...-plugin-bundle).

Here's what support said the following options entail.

License Upgrade
- Extension of Support Plan
- Product updates, support, Inner Circle rewards, Sonic Drop content, and more

1-Year Subscription, Paid Upfront
- A subscription to a new license totally unrelated to the perpetual license you already own
- Product updates, support, Inner Circle rewards, Sonic Drop content, and more

It would be wonderful if the license upgrade was called "support plan extension" and the 1-year subscription option for a new license was located elsewhere and clearly specified it's for a new license. I hope this can clear up the confusion for someone else!

I'll be getting a pro tools ultimate perpetual license with Carbon. I haven't seen a way to buy it without that.

So there's no upgrades if I want to stay with UAD and upgrade from my studio perpetual, yet if I buy a Carbon and get a new ultimate perpetual, I can't sell studio. Is there any reason why Avid now marks perpetual ilok licenses as non transferable?
