Default Midi playback problem

I just did a new Pro Tools 2024 install on a new i7 computer for a friend, and when we try to play back an old session with a ton of midi files, the playback is incredibly intermittent.

To be specific, certain notes are not playing back at all or they are chopped off, and it does not seem to be consistant from cllp to clip. It's really obvious when tracks are soloed. Some clips are fine.

Not a midi guru here, and I'm wondering if this sounds like an obvious setting in preferences, or a track or clip, before I start going throuhg the effort of creating a new session and importing ciips to see if it's a corrupted session.

the guy's computer is a new Dell 3680 Windows 11 Pro, with i7-14700, 32 gigs ram with latest PT Studio update. Sample files playing back off of separate SSD drive.

Hi there,

May I know what playback engine the session is set to? Any other plugins active within the Instrument/Midi track?
