Default "Save" is disallowed (version 2024.6.0)?

"Because this last session was opened with a Pro Tools version (2023) that has a different format of ARA data which is not supported in Pro Tools 2024.6.0.
Click "Save As" to create a Pro Tools 2024.6.0 compatible copy of the session. The original session will be unaffected."

Has anyone else seen this? I assume it's pretty standard, but I was hoping that I could just save this and overwrite it and keep the same name as opposed to doing a save as? I guess not a big deal, but I assume you guys have run into this? You gotta do this for every session that was before 2024.6.0?

I've never seen this personally... How do you version your sessions? I do SessionName-yyyymmdd.ptx. Makes it easy to save-as. That said, save the session as a new name, rename the old file, then rename the new one to what it was. :

Thanks for the reply! So, this is strange! I don’t know why this would be popping up. I will add that I have both 2023 and 2024 installed on my computer, and I renamed the older one to Pro Tools 2023 so that I could test out 2024.6.0. I don’t know that that would have anything to do with it though, as I’ve never had that happen before.

I’d like to hear if anyone else is experiencing this.

2024.6 has a different way of saving ARA data than previous sessions did. Therefore, when opening an older session that contains ARA data with 2024.6 and then changing any ARA data, it will ask you to do a Save As. It’s not a big deal and keeps the old session intact in case you need to open that one up with anything below 2024.6.
