July 12, 2002

We've been working hard on Pro Tools|HD versions of our products, and, yes, it's taking longer than expected to get the products out the door.

We have done extensive work on our software models to take full advantage of 96kHz sample rates. The results will astound you. Unfortunately, performing this substantial work while also addressing the new, incompatible Pro Tools HD system, across Mac and Windows platforms, has taken quite a bit of time.

We realize that professionals rely on our products for critical tasks, and we want you to have the honest, no-bull information we use internally for planning purposes. In the interest of "full disclosure," here is our current Pro Tools|HD release schedule:

Beta 1 (Mac only) 7/1/02 Done
Beta 2 (Mac & Windows) 7/15/02 Done
Release Candidate (public availability) 8/9/02
Final 3.00 version posted 8/19/02
Upgrades available for purchase (upgrades only!) 8/19/02
Release CD to manufacturing 8/19/02
Demos available 8/26/02
Product available in stores 9/2/02
Product available online 9/2/02
Launch of Bomb Factory 3.0 website 9/2/02

Notes/Disclaimers

Unfortunately, it's impossible to predict the future when it comes to software development. Problems can arise at the last minute and cause delays. We are confident in these dates, however. If anything changes, we will post it immediately on this page.

If you want to order an upgrade the day upgrades are sold, please be sure you have an iLok on hand. If you don't have an iLok, you can purchase one from a local retailer, or from our Online Store, today.

Sorry, we are unable to process any beta applications at this time. Please do not ask to participate in betas at this late date, it will only delay our ability to release the products.

Due to dealer and licensee restrictions, we are unable to release product "early" for any reason. Please do not ask, we really can't make any exceptions. Again, sorry.

Upgrade pricing is TBD. A fee will apply per plug-in. The maximum fee is $400, although it will be substantially less if you only own one or two products. Moreover, special offers will be made during the upgrade process to reward our customers.

The update for Pro Tools LE on Windows XP will be without charge, and we will try and get it out ASAP for our 001 Factory customers. (This is a separate, parallel effort to the Pro Tools HD work.)

Digidesign/Samplecell
=====================
No information about SoftSampleCell for PC.

bump.

Bomb Factory rescheduled.

Amplitube: No news.

Serato: Still TBA

I remember days when companies seeked out for beta-testers on the DUC.
Except of Digi no one did this lately.

I know I and many other DUC members would agree to beta-test those products.
With a secret-agreement or so.

From the beta-testing I've been involved I must say that beta-testing by the "true" users makes the products stabler, more reliable and get them to be tested in "real life" situations.

PTLE 5.3.1 under XP is a great example of product that been beta-tested by digi-users and become truly stable and reliable piece of software.

If any bf/ik/ni/digi rep. would post such offer I guess he'll get lots of candidates with all sort of systems to test out the software and release it sooner and buggy-less.

Sonic Timeworks plug ins are out for RTAS PC for the last few months. Demo downloads available from Sonic Timeworks

I've got Waves but I would recomend Sonic Timeworks for those who don't want to spend that much. In fact I wish Sonic Timeworks was out before I bought Waves!

The Channel X Voice processor is great as is the Compressor as well. The "Classic Plate" setting on their reverb sounds just as good as Waves .

You can buy all three together for $300 from their website. Great value only thing is the demo's cut out every minute or so for a few seconds, I think it's better for them to just give 2 week trial like Bomb Factory do.

Watch out that it's RTAS only, no Audiosuite as we are used to and sometimes take for granted. Yes, they should change their Demo at once, produce templates and change the frontplate of the ReverbX (to look like the Sonar version) and add some more algorithms, but, the CompressorX sounds just great... It's not that much cheaper when you don't get any AS... It moast certainly does NOT come before Waves, no way!!!
