Been no problem here when I tried 2020.3 What are your complete system specs? And what do you mean by 'forever'?

Yes, I've been seeing it here on Windows 10.

Seems like there's a delay in processing.

Try zapping your pram/nvram and see what happens. Sometimes when my 2012 cheesegrater in my profile gets slow I do that and things come back to where they should be.

To zap the PRAM, reboot your computer and hold down Cmd-Opt-P-R until you hear the Mac chime repeat. I usually give it 3-4 chimes to be sure, lol. Not sure about NVRAM.

A simple Google search turned up this:
How to Reset PRAM or NVRAM on a Mac
  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Press the power button.
  3. Before the grey screen appears, press the Command, Option, P, and R keys at the same time.
  4. Hold the keys until your computer restarts and you hear the startup sound a second time. ...
  5. Release the keys.
Remember that Google is your friend.
