Perpetual license vs subscription
Just to check:
Pro Tools 12 perpetual license = €666 (you own PT 12.x for life?) Pro Tools 12 annual subscription (€28/month) = €666 (if you rent PT 12 AND eventual newer versions for 2 years, but you have nothing when it lapses?) Conclusion: Unless there's is a new PT version every two years a perpetual license is the winner. Unless of course you also own the versions you have subscribed to for life..? It's like streaming music. You got the biggest collection of records on earth but when you stop paying, you haven't got a single record in your collection.. |

Re: Perpetual license vs subscription
If you want a like for like comparison you also hav to add in the cost of the upgrade plan for the perpetual license, otherwise you will get no more updates after one year AND will have to pay a more expensive reunstatement fee to get an upgrade plan in the future.
Subscriptions come with upgrades for free so ling as you keep subscribing.

Re: Perpetual license vs subscription
As soon as your subscription period ends your Pro Tools stops working.
A subscription license is not perpetual, that's the point of it.
