New 002 BLA mods

I emailed them about this new mod and this is what Jim told me, I am certainly getting this done!

Good to hear from you.

With the addition of the separate power supply for the analog stages
you get an additional 15db of headroom for the analog stages
themselves. The whole presentation is a lot more solid sounding, the
highs are smoother and everything fits in the mix even more then the
other 2 modifications. If your budget allows, it's a no brainer to go
with the full on mod. It adds to our description that it sounds like
you have unlimited headroom on your inputs and outputs. Also aside
from the decoupling, when we started to look more into the 002 so we
could do more, we found out that the AKM converters inside were not
even performing up to their rated specs because Digidesign had left
out parts in the converter circuit according to the AKM datasheets. We
corrected this and then started tweaking it as well.

The difference between the modded one you have now and these 2 new
options is huge.

As musicians and engineers, we tend to think of digital audio signals as being completely different from analog audio signals. While they are inherently different from each other, certain laws that govern both groups are the same. In analog, we want the signal to be maintained as much as possible when it travels through a circuit. In digital audio, the same principle needs to be applied. There are many things that threaten the quality of the digital signal as it is propagated throughout the circuit. Converters and digital logic circuits need to be properly ‘isolated’ from unwanted noise within the power supply as well as from each other; otherwise harmful harmonic content can bleed into the digital signal. Once conversion occurs that unwanted harmonic content remains, and this happens during A/D as well as D/A. To the human ear, the sound is harsh and brittle.

There is a textbook method to remedy this issue, called bypassing (or decoupling), but it doesn't completely eliminate it. We’ve done a great deal of research on bypassing as it relates to digital audio, and come up with our own proprietary methods for achieving excellent isolation. It’s a method that we feel provides an unusually smooth audio quality.

Completely isolating the analog stage power from the digital stage power is another excellent method of improving signal quality. We’ve not only been able to isolate the digital and analog power from each other, we’ve also improved analog stage dynamic range by 15dB.

The HD mod costs us only 75.00 and the tweak head package is 275.00.
We already paid 450.00 for the standard upgrade. Add the xtras to the standard price and you get what they are charging 525.00 and 725.00
