Default Elastic Audio Plug-in v7.4r2 Beta

Anyone used it?

Any stability problems and have you noticed a big difference?

It can be downloaded here: 7.4 download page or installed from the 7.4 install dvd.

I think the more relevant question is; Is anyone even using the Elastic Audio feature?

7.4 was possibly the worst upgrade in PTLE history. Adding a feature that 90% of people don't need or use while creating a massive amount of new bugs that still have yet to be addressed.

So yeah, I would seriously doubt anyone has tried the beta, since I also seriously doubt there are many users who are using Elastic Audio to begin with.

There are a lot of features that are new to me. I'm coming back into the ProTools fold but have not touched the SW since 6.3
I found elastic audio to be a great feature, easy for me to conform audio to the song meter.

Slim,
What other SW or plugins are available that would make EA an uneeded feature?
- Syntronic?
- Beat Detective?
- Structure?

Genuine question as I have been out of the loop and would like to know what others are using.

Melodyne, SPEED, Serato Pitch n' Time, X-Form, even Digi's built-in TCE plug-in was fine. While I'm sure some people use EA, it's hardly impressive sounding, and as someone who is on this form almost daily, I never saw any feature request threads asking for anything like Elastic Audio, while many many many other features actually requested by users are still vaporware. Sorry to sound negative, but I am truly concerned over the direction Digi is taking, they keep releasing mountains of stuff nobody needs while leaving us with buggy versions of their flagship software making it very difficult to do the work the software used to be good at. Just ranting I guess. My apologies.

I don't know Slim, for me it stops me from having to fire up ableton live. I think Live musicians may not use the elastic audio nearly as much as an electronic producer. Transfuser is the final step for me removing Ableton Live from my plugin list completely.

I getcha, but for me that's the issue. Digi is trying to force PT into being an all-in-one composition tool now, and the audio editing, recording & mixing part of it which used to be rock solid, and the reason PT was such a standard, is suffering in a big way. PT is becoming something that does a lot of things sorta OK, as opposed to when it used to be something that did just a few things VERY well. Something as simple as bouncing an AIFF file should NOT be an issue, yet with 7.4 AIFF files have corrupted/improper header information, meaning some other apps can't work with them unless you re-save them with something else (I use Peak) in order to fix the bug. That's just ridiculous to me, and if that's the trade-off for adding Elastic Audio (along with the waveform drawing issues, MIDI timing issues etc.) I'm not interested, and it makes me nervous to continue to see Digi trying to stuff more features into PT (or create more VI's) if the bread and butter of the app is going to suffer.

It just saved my ass working on an ADR session. VocaLign Pro was OK but when it came to really matching video with audio, Elastic Audio has been a life saver. The audio is very ocassionally compromised to a small degree, but not enough to make the process useless.

I do agree with you about PT and bloatware. PT may have crossed the line, but EA is fabulous as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, but I bet you could've done it just as well (if not better) using Melodyne.

Anyway I get the point, I rescind the question. I like "bloatware" though, very appropriately describes PT for me at this point.

Since you're one who actually uses EA, have you tried the 7.4r2 beta so that the OP doesn't hate my guts for hijacking his thread?
