Default Phasing question

Hey all, I used to use PRo Tools since the 001 days up to v.7

Then left...
I'm back trying out a monthly subscription v12.3.1 using a UAD Apollo Twin as my interface, OSX 10.10.5 on a macbook pro mid 2015
My question is when we get ready to record guitars, it sounds badass until we hit the record button. Then things sound way way out of phase.
Turn off the record button and things sound badass again.

What am I missing to do? I've checked many things to see if they could be the problem. Still a really bad phasing sound when the record button is armed. I've tried different buffer sizes.
Thanks for any help

Are you monitoring through the interface? IF yes, Mute the armed PT's track. If NO, Do you have 'Input Monitoring' turned on? If yes, make sure the above is addressed. If NO, adjust your buffer size to 32 or 64.

Enable Low Latency Monitoring. That should do the trick, with no need to mute any tracks.

No problem we're here to help. If you didn't know the PT's reference manual is available in the help menu. It's very in depth, and searchable. Have fun, we're here for you.
