Default 8.0.4cs4 vs 7.4.(2) stability

  • I just went form PT 7.4 into 7.4.2 on an Original MacPro 266ghz and upgraded the OS from 1.4.11 to 10.5.4. I'm having playback issues with my MOJO since the update. This is documented in the knowledge base stating the PT 7.4 had a MOJO playback issue which I never experienced in 7.4 but am experiencing repeatedly in 7.4.2.
I know my expansion chassis is mired at 8.0.1 but I have good opportunity to do a pretty reasonable swap with someone.

The $64,000.00 question is "Is PT 8.0.4cs4 as stable or more stable than 7.4(.2)? I just don't want to get stuck which a chassis that won't let me even the 8...9 features are always added, but I need to run this 60-80 hours a week and can't spend a third of that on troubleshooting with an unstable system. And anyone with info on the MOJO fix in PT 8, I'd love to hear from you

Running Orig MacPro 2.66ghz. 5 gig of ram, D-Control, Sync I/O (Standard not HD) 2 x 192s with extra D-A A-D cards for 24 in 24 out. All my essential plug will work so its all about stabily.

Thanks!

I'm running 8.0.4 on a dual core 2.66 Intel running 10.5.8. HD3 Acell with an PCIx Expansion chassis (using the PCIe host adapter) I upgraded my old expansion chassis with the Magma PE6NE-I upgrade kit. I lost the Mojo though and now use Blackmagic Decklink. A big improvement over the Mojo.

It seems to me a bit more stable than 7.4cs11.

I would consider upgrading to PT 8.1cs2

Lots of PT 8 fixes in that version. Last version of 8 I believe. But you would have to check your expansion chassis t make sure its compatible etc. As well you would have to go Snow Leopard OS X 10.6 which is a better operating system too.
