Default DIgii - Slightly Rude Compressor makes PT crashing

Was working on a session with multiple instances of this plug in. Everytime I closed the session PT crasched or it just quit. If I tried to restart the session I'd get a bunch of errors and in the end when the session opened, tracks didn't have voices, plugs where not instanciated as they should be etc etc...

Started to try finding the fault and a couple of hours later I did. Removed the Slightly Rude Compressor from the plug ins folder and now everything works as it should. Are there any known issues concerning this?

-Robert

System details:

Mac Quad PPC with HD3
OSX 10.4.9
PT 7.4cs2
Slightly Rude Compressor 7.3

I think you should try trashing data bases etc . .

Slightly Rude works just fine here - Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 on an old Dual G5 and PT 7.4.1

Rid yourself of the whole enchilada like databases, Volumes, Preferences etc...

Deleting Prefs was one of the first things I tried but didn't help. I've been analyzing the problem furthermore and it seems only to be if you have several Slightly Rude Compressors instanciated and you use the side chain (key input).

Just tried with an empty session:

1. Created 5 stereo instrument tracks and 5 stereo audio tracks.

2. Put 10 Slightly Rude Compressors 5 on instrumental and 5 on the audio.

3. Closed session and reopened without any problem.

Then i:

4. Created a mono track and put a send on it from i.e bus 1.

5. Changed key input to bus 1 on each compressor.

Saved and tried to close session. PT crashed and you had to restart the computer to open the session again..

Just had a friend trying it out on his Mac Intel HD3 system and he got the same results as I did.

I just hope DIGI reads this and put it on their list of bug fixes for the future...

Yep!

I am that friend and I had to restart the computer after closing the session. This is one seriously repeatable bug. :-(

I have tried this on several Macs running 7.3 - 7.4.1 (OS 10.4.9 - 10.5.1), and have not been able to reproduce the problem. Are you using TDM or RTAS versions of Slightly Rude Compressor in the steps above (I've tried both, but just to be sure...)? Also, what is the minimum number of instances of S.R.C. that will cause this behavior?

Try updating to 7.4cs3. Also try deleting your version of S.R.C. and installing it again from the download page.

Keep me updated - I'll continue to test tomorrow.
