wow its an Elite! You may connect 6.1 out from your console or PT(preffered)to the discrete inputs(5.1 or 6.1) of your AV reciever. Just check bass management options HTH
Yes, it's an Elite receiver and thanks for the input. After doing more and more research, I've discovered exactly what you've mentioned. I can come right out of my 192 I/O and go into the discrete (5.1) inputs of the receiver. I guess I just need to get/find the proper cabling.

BTW- What are you referring to when you say, "check bass management options HTH?"

Thank you again for your help!

That's the one I linked to above. I'm going to be trying one out in my home studio soon. I've heard good things about the SPL and it looks like it will serve my purposes just fine.

Buddy, what do you use now for monitoring controller? Did you move away from the SPL for any particular reason? What do you use now?

Steve

Tom, how's the potentiometer?

I know some people have said they don't like the look of it. I actually think it looks cool. Of course, if it sounds great, I could care less what it looks like.

really? huh! i rather like it as well, AND, it is stepped. feels like quality. we're talking the 2381, here.

for the surround room i have the MultiMAX. and the ONLY thing i DON'T like about it is the Potentiometer!!!

if you are going with Surround, especially for film and DVD, the MultiMAX is the best bang for the buck and has the features you need. more I/O than any other device like it, ability to quickly sitch between 'Film' surrounds and 'DVD' surrounds, run 4 speaker systems (2 surround, nearfield and small mono) with it, firmware upgrades..... also, great company!

MultiMAX

What is the price for the Multimax?

I think for what I'll be doing, mostly stereo, with the occasional surround project, the SPL seems like it will do the trick. I've got new speakers on the way for testing, one of which is the Blue Sky System Ones. That will come with it's own bass management system.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Steve

Its a filter and a switch function, I'm pretty sure its in the manual and you may check out bluesky and Dolby sites for guidelines for medium sized room sorround mixing i think there is one.

Not familiar with the Pioneer receiver but check out this link for a similar way of doing it. Looks ok for a home/semi pro studio.

Violet Audio

These guys also make 7.1 surround controllers etc.

Cheers

Ray
Thanks Ray... this looks perfect for me (to upgrade from a Sony 5.1 receiver/amp). They have a distributor in Melbourne also.

Cheers, Phil J.
