Mbox 1 - Vista x64?
Hey, my friend is offering to sell me his old mbox 1 for a cheap price and even though I've been reading and searching through pages of posts I can't seem to find a definite answer.
Does mbox 1 work on vista x64? Is protools just editing software or driver aswell? Able to just use ASIO instead? Thanks a lot, E. |

Re: Mbox 1 - Vista x64?
Nothing works on Vista 64 bit(nothing to do with Pro Tools anyway). Pro Tools is an excellent DAW program, but it requires a Digidesign/Avid interface(like the Mbox) to work. The Mbox 1 is at the end of its support period and there will be no updates for it beyond version 8.0.1. If you really want to run Pro Tools, I would install(or maybe dual boot) Vista 32 bit or XP. If you just want to do generic computer audio, then I would skip the Mbox and use Reaper with a Presonus Firebox or Firestudio(if you need more than a few inputs.

the original Mbox is at the end of software support too, as in "obsolete." Might explain why it's for sale!

And all this also means it will never be qualified for Windows7.

Re: Mbox 1 - Vista x64?
Just to let you know. I dug my old MBox out of mothball, loaded the USB ASIO Drivers (~$60) along with Reaper (another $60) and it is better than ever!!
So how much did you pay for the MBox? Your buddy should have given it to you, then the extra $120 would have you fully up and running.
