Desperate For Help With PT Uninstall/Reinstall Problem. PLEASE HELP. URGENT!

I'm about to throw something! I can't make heads or tails of this. In addition to using the uninstall utilities, using ADD/REMOVE programs, using the PT Unistallers referred to here, and manually deleting registry keys and searching through WIN folders for left over drivers and files, I can't get rid of PT entirely. When I reinstall 8.0 it DOESN'T WANT TO INSTALL THE DRIVERS FOR THE MBOX2.

What am I missing? Is there a specific file I should be looking for?

Have you tried right-clicking on the question marks in the Device Manager and uninstalling/removing them?

A few other things our techs could think of:

1. A possible conflict with M-Audio drivers from other devices?
2. The presence of the following driver has caused problems with Mbox 2 installs:

'C:\windows/system 32/drivers/USBAUDIO.SYS'

It has to be uninstalled via "safe mode".

3. Something jacked up with the dalwdm.sys - old version that won't go away, etc.
Try pulling it manually and then reinstalling.

I've gotten deeper into this and it shows the drivers MAY have been installed. However, while it shows DIGI FIRMWARE UPDATER and give me the option to update the driver, it then gives me a "Cannot Start Hardware" error CODE 10 dialog...

You seem desperate. So Reformat drive and Reinstall your OS and start over

Or, hell with it all and Install REAPER.

Yeah, sometimes it's just faster to start over with a fresh copy of Windows. Your system could be hosed, who knows?

I know that you know this but if you have a clone of your last working system drive, use it to see if this could be a hardware issue.

First I am aware that MBOX PRO no need the new driver.
the first time I installed PT 8.0.3 whith out the new driver(Digidesign Audio Drivers Setup (x64) as was said by Digi, okay my Mbox Pro worked greats.

So I decided to go for my Digi 003 in the same notebook, i did all is recommended and installed the driver for 64 bits and my 003 worked perfect too.
BUT I wanted use my MBOX PRO again, i open PT and there is a message "Unable to locate Digidesign hardware. make sure your hardware is connected and turned on. ClicK" OK" when the hardware is ready, I did, no results. I went to Device Manager and the MBOX PRO appears right, tried differentes drivers appears . none firewire driver is useful, Legacy, standard texas instrument from notebook, and other what appears also, tried different cable, one PCMCIA card for firewire tha i used to use before,(mean i know that PCMCIA works) and nothing get , no solution,please help if possible

My notebook is HP NW 9440 supported by Digidsign,that's why I do the some question to DIGI'S support Thanks

One more thing If I reinstall over PT 8.0.3 will Digidesign Audio Drivers Setup x64 remains or just go??

If you've got the "drivers" folder from another install try copying it over and running the Digidriver.exe file. It might be for firewire only - don't know for sure, but who knows...

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm no newbie and if this were MY studio, I'd start over with a fresh copy of windows, but this is a SCHOOL, so I cannot do that. I am going to purchase some used MBOXes off of EBay. In order for me to reformat, I need the Board Of Education techs to come in. I'm not allowed to do it solo.
