Digi Pre Controls MIssing??

HI Avid Protools Users

I reacently recognised that there is no Mic Pre controls in Protools version 2022.9
and 2022.10?

I checke everything in midi audio setup and in Protools but no Digi Pre mic pre
cobtols in Protools ?

They reacently changed something in Mic pre conrols?

Actually when I reset Mic pre settings in Protools controls show up for 5 sec and dissapear again!!

Please Avid what to do to see mic pre controlls in protools PERPETUALLY?

Unfortunately, that is unsupported hardware that was replaced bt Avid-branded one long agp and now superceded by Carbon Pre. They might not do anything to fix it.

It was my fault!
Before a while I cheked “Dont show
this message again.” And bloked Protools to tell me that my midi cable
Is not connected properly.

Pro Tools is totally agnostic when it comes to the midi Pre protocol. When you select "PRE" and a midi channel in the peripherals menu, it has no way of telling whether it is a Digidesign Pre, an Avid Pre, a MTRX Studio, an Avid MTRX, a Focusrite MP8R, Grace Design M108, Millennia HV-3R, Aphex 1788, RME Micstasy, Summit MPE-200, etc, that is actually connected to Pro Tools.

It is all just a "PRE". I don't know why Avid added a new protocol for the Carbon pres. Perhaps to accomodate some of the extra functions like mic preamp impedance. Or perhaps it was just easier to roll it straight into the rest of the Carbon control protocol rather than translating settings to and from midi in a system that doesn't have midi. In either case, the Carbon Pres haven't superseded the original midi Pre protocol as it is still a fundamental part of Avid's flagship products.

I'm glad you got it sorted. I, too, thought it might be a tough issue since it's an older box.

It's an odd protocol to be sure. I'm using it currently with a 3rd party interface (with a Digilink module installed) and PT often loses my mic pre settings. AudioMIDISetup stays intact, it's the I/O settings which get zapped and then I no longer see the mic pre controls on the mixer channels.

So, may I ask, how to use hardware inserts on the way in with Carbon Pre ?

I have no idea, sorry! It wouldn't be the first 8 channel preamp rack with digital conversion to lack insert points. If it doesn't have any and you need them, it doesn't really seem like a viable alternative to the original Digidesign/Avid PRE.
