Default Re: The (near) perfect tablet for the S1

For meter tablets you should take a look at the Samsung Tab A9+. It’s an 11” tablet and lines up pretty well with the faders on the S1. It’s not going to be as aligned as the larger iPad but it’s a fraction of the price and a solid tablet.

The Amazon Fire Max is also an 11” tablet, but it’s a Fire and your mileage may vary. Both of these tablets are on sale right now.

Be forewarned that neither of these tablets will fit horizontally in the Dock.

Re: WiFi or Ethernet, I use WiFi. I see no need to go hardwired on the tablets. I have a dedicated router solely for Eucon and everything runs solid this way.

If you have a decent WiFi router I don't notice much difference in performance. I'd rather hard wire everything out of habit but I don't like the adapter mess with ipads.

You should look into these for the S1 meters https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-powerf...12&sr=8-1&th=1

You get 30 days to try as well I think.

I find there's a benefit for hardwiring your main tablet. The timecode, etc, updates faster. Not really needed for S1 meters.

The Samsung S7+ tablet is a good alternative to the iPad Pro 12.9 (you can hardwire those as well) for cheaper.

The ethernet switch performance isn't crucial to the S1s as they are only 100mb anyway (no gigabit on those)

Thanks everyone for really helpful comments

I think I’m going to go iPad Pro (refurb) hard wired on the dock and 2 x fire 11s. For the S1

I find the updating of some pages, for example the "tracks" page, quite slow on the FireHD 10.

Is it faster a) on the FireHD 11, or b) faster using a USB to Ethernet connection and connecting it that way?

(I'm assuming that's what was meant by "hardwiring")

Thanks for the heads up - the S1 will largely be metering which is a way seems extravagant - though perhaps as i get more experienced I’ll do more

Last knockings…. Narrowed down to iPad for the dock def
And then either Black Friday purchase of Az fire 11 or Lenovo tab m11 - both coming in at circa £130

So. Lenovo or Fire. Any advice ?

Get one of each and return the one you don’t want. You won’t have to deal with ads and the annoying Lock Screen on the Lenovo.

The Amazon Fire 11 is 4x faster than the 10's and perfect for the S1's You can buy the one without adds...or there's a hack to remove them. Also the latest 24.10 release has improved Avid Controls performance so test on that!

For me it was the Fire 10 itself, not the connection. It's just slower to switch. Ipad is not. But I haven't tried the new release yet.
