Default "AUTOMATION too dense" error 20021 w/ 2024.10

started getting this this morning: 52 minute mix w/ video, episode 3 of 4 so I made a clean session from ep. 1 (=eps. 1+2 went fine, was running PT Ultimate 2024.06), but after updating to 2024.10 I'm getting this about 1/2 dozen times this morning.

Not a very dense mix yet, FabFilter Pro3 mostly, some altiverb 7 instances, nothing too crazy (in Rosetta mode), on a Mac Studio 64gB ram.

Bug ??

This use to happen back in the day - from what I can gather, 20021 is strictly related to plug-ins, and we've had reports of it happening on other systems using outdated versions of Penteo or Relayer hence why it is suggested to update them if you have them (or remove them temporarily). Since the error in question is related to plug-ins, it would be worth to make sure all of your plug-ins are up-to-date.

Please capture *only* the most recent ".dlog" file generated after seeing the error, and send it to me for evaluation. my email is below....

Thanks Benny!!!!

Thanks Marianna. I ended up going back to 2024.6 and...not a single issue all day (same mix), it clearly points to some kind of issue w/ .10

Also, I updated all my plugins last week; latest version of WAVES (everything..), Altiverb 7, Speakerphone, Isotope RX 9, McDSP SA2 and
FabFilter Pro Q3, that's pretty much it !

Benny - thanks for this info. Are you adverse to me creating a case and working on this for you?

ANYONE else who has this report in ASAP and please please save a error log so we can get to the bottom of it.

I've been getting tons of these with with he release version (and beta). When it happens, I can't work anymore and PT throws up the error every time I hit play. Restarting the session or Pro Tools is the only solution.

Marianna- I'll email you my log right now.

This error has been around for years (at least 6 or 7 Years). Only way out is to re-launch the session. Plenty of old threads about it with no real solution...
I opened a case 4-5 years ago but it was closed without a solution. My strong suspect is AVID channel.strip and since I've abandoned it I have not seen the error in the last year.

Maybe try the workarounds discussed before:

Rolling back to 2024.6 made it go away for me.

I’m pretty sure I’m not using Channel Strip anymore. It’s possible I still have a few on uneven returns. I’ll have to check through my session and test 2024.10 without them.
