By the way , did you see they put an ATI X1600 in these bad boys now? That should push some plasma screens to their limits. For the first time Steve Jobs and Co. has beat me.

Dr. Allenstein is suffering from momentary lapse of reality, due to a frontal lobotomy or was it a bottle in front of me.
Disregard any posts from him concerning Apple products.
He may also been seduced by the Macside of the Force!

Sorry Allen we kown you not yourself!

Figures, I new I would see another MacInstein commercial on the PC forum. I read through the specs though and it's only a dual core. By the time they get to 4 cores I'll be on 8 cores with the next gen of Athlon CPUs.

But since it was a late Friday night when you made this post, I'm going to assume you had one to many and that you're still hung over a wee bit.

I'm gonna get you up here one weekend Allen and hire you as an assistant engineer for a few days(doesnt matter what level your engineering skills are). We'll try a few systems including the MacInsteins and I'll make sure you leave converted back to AMD.

The Opteron Quads rock! And gettin' cheaper everyday.

The only thing I don't like about Opterons (and this isn't AMD's fault) is that the motherboard selection is very weak -- especially for two or four-chip motherboards.

Well, so far the Tyan Tiger K8WE and the Asus K8N-DL work great for LE as far as Quads go. I'm not sure about single CPU Opteron boards. But the quads are becoming so cheap now you can just get a quad board and start out with one Opteron CPU. Add the second when your budget allows.

No worries guys. I'll always be a die in the wool AMD fan. There is no better processor on the market and Apple [bleep] up by going with Intel for marketing reasons. That is all I can say. They are going to wish they could put a X8 Opteron in one of those desktop units soon.

Just for you Allen, we are trying to get OSX running on an AMD system this weekend. I'll keep ya posted.
