Default midi / audio track issue

My first time working with MIDI.I created a drum track using EZDrummer by Toon Tracks. That seems to work well. Then I went and added an audio track for me to record a guitar part to the drum track.

When I arm the guitar track and the red light is activated. I hear the sound of my guitar through my monitors. when I then press play to start the drum track so I can play along, my guitar cant be heard any longer. Once I stop the midi track from playing the guitar track is fine again. Both the MIDI and guitar tracks are output through the main outs on my interface.

Any thought to what this is happening?

Thans in advance

When you arm the guitar track are you trying to record or just jam with to come up with a part? If you're just trying to jam asking with playback hit option +k

I was looking to just jam and not record. I wanted to just flush out ideas and in order to hear my guitar through Pro Tools, I needed to arm the track. If I were to actually record, would that help?

Talking Re: midi / audio track issue

I looked in the Pro tools short cut reference PDF and don't see the

option + K

It worked and allowed me to monitor my guitar through pro tools while the midi track was playing back. I don't know if this is a well know short cut to advanced PT users, but hopefully it helps someone.

It's a shortcut for input monitoring
