I have four adjacent clips on a track. Each clip is cross faded with the next. I am looking for a way to easily apply a gradual fade out across the entire 4-clip section.
I have tried to "group" the clips to create a single track to fade out, but pro tools says i cannot group clips with cross fades. I also looked at the batch fade tool, and was unable to locate the appropriate function. PT12.1 |

A) consolidate the clips (with crossfades) into a new clip. Then use the new file and apply your fade
or B) use volume automation for what it was intended You can't apply fades/crossfades to other fades/crossfades. There is no "workaround"

My 2 cents, since consolidating the clips will make the cross-fades permanent, I would leave them alone and use BScout's option of volume automation. Just show Volume, drop 2 breakpoints and drag the end down to nothing. It took longer for me to type this than it will to do it
![]() If you do choose the consolidate option, duplicate the playlist first ![]()

You can also create a Region/Clip Group and apply a fade on the grouped clips.
That said, this is what volume automation is for... |
