Why will SOMEONE in charge not answer any of the unknowns about the new licensing plans. Thats what its about!

For starters and very simply....
- What happens when a license lapses for HD?
- What happens when a Vanilla license lapses? Really $899 to jump back in?
- Why no reward for the ones already on 11??

I can't even say whether I like the new plan or not - I don't have the facts of how its going to work? 2+ weeks and it can't be said - pretty much unbelievable - yet look at Russ's poll - regardless 70% plus will more than likely be using it 3 years from now any way.

Those are the three main questions.

My guess is that we won't hear anything until Avid quietly launches the new licensing purchase options in November. Which who know when that will be. It could be another 4 or 5 weeks still.

I edited my post because I thought I was being clever, but decided it was too cutesy. I agree with your questions and I believe that they are valid.

Exactly we may as well be talking about squads on the pitch till they decide what they will do.

For topic

(70% say they will most likely be using ProTools in the next three years however take another poll after this new pricing schedule support agreement policy is finalized that's when you'll be able to tell true customer sentiment)

Yeah, but it isn't specified if the version we'll run 3 years from now will be the latest one or the good ol' 11 perpetual license

I know you said "more than likely" but the poll says,
Question 1
26 percent certain and other 45 percent are on the fence.

question 2
78 percent are less confident than a year ago.

That's an important majority but that group includes those who have stuck on an old/stable system, as well as those who might stick on PT11 i.e. no new revenue for Avid. Additionally, the full situation has only really been explored fully here on DUC and many PTE readers will not even be aware of this thread.

So, 30% is probably 'best case'for Avid and, unless there are changes (or possibly clarifications of current misunderstandings), it's clear that the cost of carrying Pro Tools into the future will have to be borne by a smaller group than at present, including many of us here!
