Re: any opinions on the Audio Technica AT4033
GO FOR IT! I had one in the past and it worked great for both vocals and acoustic. Unfortunately I sold mine because I got a U87, but for the money, I think the 4033 is an awesome mic. You'll be very pleased. For the record, I don't work for Audio Technica.

Re: any opinions on the Audio Technica AT4033
hey, i have a quick question for you.
i live in a noisy 'hood in nyc -- lots of merengue blasting, honking, etc. amazingly, my sure m57 doesn't pick up the noise from the street... but the vocals i do through it sound like **** . will a AT4033 pick up everything....?? ('cause if it does... i'm sorta screwed... or can i set it.) tom. |

Re: any opinions on the Audio Technica AT4033
Tommydee,
You may be screwed either way, unless you soundproof a part of your room to eliminate any outside noise. I suggest investing in soundproofing unless you like a little outside action in your production. If you look in the back of any mix mag., you should be able to get help. Imagine

Re: any opinions on the Audio Technica AT4033
tommydee,
I have 2 AT4033's & they're great, versatile mics on many sources - vox & ac gtr included ..... great bang for the buck. Are there other mics that can do either better? yes - but for alot more money. Good luck Tony

I use the 4033 and love it! Great mic for the money!
I record at home and needed some isolation for the vocals, so I used mic stands (booms) to hold up some heavy blankets creating a little vocal booth. It really helped! Rock! B |

I picked up an AT4047 recently for about $500. It's their newer model and it sounds great on vocals. Not sure about guitar although it's gotten great reviews.

Re: any opinions on the Audio Technica AT4033
I'm using the 4033 to track vocals right now and it is working out very well. Nicely defined with PRESENCE! My only complaint would be that it does accentuate the sibilance on my singer so it may not be the best for him. It all depends on the vocalist, your better off trying out a lot of them so you can decide what presents the voice in the best light.
