Looks good indeed. Sheldon, I wouldn't expect a solid release date, but can you hit at what quarter of the year?

Thanks.

The real question is....

Will the AVB snake card work with a mix rack for additional I/O? Now THAT would be good news!

This is promised to be shipping in Q1!

Redundant Cat5 connection!

Sheldon, I don't get if you can configure the stage rack to be 48 input only, too or is it fixed at 32 in 16 out?

It looks like you can configure it any way you want since you can connect a second remote. So one could be 48 inputs and the second one 32 outputs. Since they're upping the support to 64 channels from 48, there must be additional expansion in the works as well.

fun question is, where does all the DSP to support these channels come from?
have to assume it eats away from what's built-in... not a whole lot then left for plugins...

In regards to the extra DSP, you would have to guess that it is a complete re-write of the software using new more efficient algorithms and/or a more efficient coding language. The Venue software for the SC48 is built off the D-Show/ Profile Software where DSP in those systems is more plentiful and thus the coding doesn't have to be as efficient. Making more efficient algorithms and code requires time. This could co-incide with the re-write of ProTools where the AAX plugin model could eventually migrate to the live sound arena.

OR we could just be synical and say the horesepower was always there, they just throttled it back to create a new product market and upsale you later. i.e. The Apple approach. =)

i'm not sure if they will do that, seems to me like a whole lot of work. but maybe your right. I think what morrison says makes more sense. I guess if it's truth, 64 channels cost you 2 dsp's more than 48 ch.
