Yes, you can use more than 1 iLok at the same time. My suggestion was that one has your "essential" plugins, the other has your "floating" plugins. Plug both iLoks in for the whole suite, or pull one (or both) out to take those plugins elsewhere.

As I mentioned earlier, Digi will be using ilok.com accounts to deliver iLok authorizations to those with floppy or serial number based plugins.

Check out http://www.digidesign.com/ and click on the iLok to read about the transition.

Obviously this will only be for Digi distributed plugins.

Also, the implication is that they will only provide this floppy-to-iLok authorization transfer after you've bought a PT-6 upgrade. Personally, I'd like to transfer mine now since I'll be holding off on PT-6 for a while.

Digi, I have to bump this as I need an official answer from you guys. What I am dreading is that you're going to say something that's pretty serious, and should be a WARNING IN THE MANUAL - in case we accidentally choose the shiny new object to authorise it, and not the much more sensible floppy. Is putting an authorisation into an iLok a one-way trip, an irrevocable process? You can never get it out? Either to 1) sell it or 2) move it to another iLok?

This does not seem to get pointed out anywhere among all the marketing hoo-ha about how good the iLok system is over floppies.

If it's true, you had better tell the truth - "there is no way to do it with floppies, and iLok is the only way right now so you better like it."

Thanks in advance - MG

Unfortunately, there currently is no way to deauthorize a Digi plugin from an ilok. The next version of iLok.com should provide the ability to move authorizations from one iLok to another. Unfortunately I do not have an implementation date from Pace on this, but it is at the top of our feature request list.

The floppy based authorization you have will still work on a OS9 based system.
