Sorry again Allen, I got so excited about building the new DAW that I overlooked (or just did not pay attention) no more coffee for me today! to the note you have about the FX-53 processor. Actually, I want to wait for the new Mobo and try building my new Allenstein DAW with the FX-55. This will make me wait until that new Mobo is out, but I think it will be worth the wait. Yes?

Thanks again,
It might be worth the wait and the processor will have come down in price too by then. But there will be the FX-57 coming out by then. LOL

Lighten up on the coffee dude!

Allen

Thanks Ill will check it out. But I saw that Allen wrote in this treat about the K8V MOBO so maybe he can tell me if I can use the onboard fire wire.
The onboard firewire has worked well on the K8V with both 002r and 002. Yep the Dep fix, that is what I was thinking. Probably easier for you to just do this than reinstall XP with SP1.

Are you telling me you got an Nforce 3 motherboard to work with PTLE? Tell us your secret and tweaking tricks. Your the first I've seen use this. Which motherboard are you using? Can you give us some DAVEC performance results so we can see how it compares to the current K8V?
Thanks,

Allen
yes! The system was running totally fine, but unfortunatly that laptop was stolen some time ago
It was stolen before the release of SP2, so i was running sp1. The model was the compaq r3000z series with the athlon 64 3000+ (if I recall) my model number was R3240Z. I didn't do anything special with the notebook, and was using an mbox. I do recall having errors with any buffers below 512. So I just used 512 all the time. I completely forgot to update my signature to my new laptop, another one that might suprise you!
I bought an averatec 6240 to replace my stolen notebook which also has a mobile athlon 64 3000+ NOT knowing it had a SiS chipset! When I got home and started exploring the system, my stomach dropped! I decided to test everything anyways... the system crashed on PT launch, instant blue screen. I did the DEP fix, and protools runs perfectly fine on it! Needless to say, I kept the laptop. I'm actually on it right now.
I guess I got lucky on the 2 systems, since both of them shouldn't have worked...

I wish I could tell you the details about the nforce chipset, but 100% it was running perfectly fine. Maybe someone can test it on the board? I checked hp.com to see if you can still buy it but it looks like the updated it to this R3340
the only thing different I can notice is the gfx card...

anyways, thanks again for everything! I bookmarked this page, can't wait to see the results!

Hey Allen I've been looking for the SKV8 on the net and it seems to be hard to find. Where is a good place to see or get one?

Hi, I just purchased a Intel P4 3 GHZ 915 chip set PC and have found that there are problems with the Digi 001 Pro Tools LE 6.4 setup, according to the DUC. The PC shop I purchased the system from is willing to change out my system to a AMD 64 system. I am giving you the system specs to see if this is a course I should follow. They will replace the P4 915 with a

AMD 64 3200+ w/Hyper Transport Processor
MSI K8T800 Neo AMD64
Black Mid-Tower 350W Power Supply Case
2 Front USB Ports
512 MB PC3200 DDR
80GB SATA 150MB/S 7200RPM Hard Drive
Nvidia FX5200 128MB Video Card
1.44" Floppy Drive
16X DVD-ROM / 52x24x52x CDRW
On-Board 5.1 Channel Sound Card
On-Board Intel Pro 10/100 Network Card
2PC 8W Speaker System
56K V.92 Data/Fax Modem
Black Internet Keyboard
Optical Wheel Mouse
Trend Micro PC-Cillin Anti-virus Software (90 day free trial)
Custom Software (LaunchCast, PC-Alert, InterVideo, Nero) or PowerDVD
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2
1-Year Parts and Labor Warranty

Can you advise me if this is what I should do, I am also including their web site if you would care to look at it to see if there are further recomendations. I will consider your recomendations, however, I am already comitted to them and what they have to offer.

Regards; Thanx in advance

I would get this one on Ebay for under 100.00 and a 30 day warrantee. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

Otherwise they are over 200.00 if you do a search on Google. I also came across a complete system for about 2200.00 on ebay. I like the setup too. Check it out.

Happy Bidding!

This system should work. Make sure you do the Dep fix for SP2 if you are using PTLE 6.4 or above.
I would upgrade the processor to the 3400+ since they are only charging 40.00 for this upgrade.

Way to go!

Allen
