S3L uses different preamps/converters than VENUE.

I have a couple of question about the E3 engine(the brain of S3L).

It channel run at 32 bits and 192Khz? even at 64 channel? is that true?

I hear about the modularity of the system and it´s hdx capable.
It means that it´s upgradable with more HDX boards? so it can do more than 64 channels?

I found the site a little vague in tecnical specification.
Since i didn´t find the answer on site, maybe anyone can help me.
thanks in advance.
AFAIK S3L will be 48khz fixed and if you run it as a 64 channel desk there won't be too much DSP left over for plugins. The engine is not expandable, there is a single HDX card in there, most likely physically not the same that we see made for computers, much like current VENUE line has TDM cards inside that do not resemble Pro Tools TDM cards, but the DSP usage is the same, like how many ReVibes you will be able to run per chip ect.

Since S3L make use of the AAX plugin format, will there DSP plugin sharing ?

What I've been told is the HDX card inside is only using 2/3 (possibly a little more or less) of the DSP on the card. They are setting this up for future upgrades. Sample rates over 48K? The surface also speaks EUCON. So there is the possibility that it will control Pro Tools at a later date also. Right now tracking 64 channels to a PT11 is great. But on playback you get none of the PT features you'd want for remixing using the surface (currently). In the future a quick flip for the surface and you're mixing with Pro Tools (possibly).

Probably like we see now, some plugins are able to share, others not.

It will be cool to see if you can add DSP right into the EUCON network. Those who need/can afford to add more could just pop in some extra nodes.

The S3L is just the beginning of a modular system that has some serious potential.
