Pro Tools LE Crashes on AMD Turion 64 HP Laptop

I just bought a HP Laptop with the 1.8ghz AMD Turion 64 processer, a gig of RAM. Then I bought an Mbox from a friend, and it came with PT 6.1. After I installed it, I tried to run it, and my laptop had a BSOD and it reboot. I then got PT 6.4 off the digidesign website and tried running PT again, but I had the same result, BSOD (blue screen of death). I opened up Cubase SX and tried recording with the mbox and using the ASIO driver that gets installed automatically with PT, and it worked great. I recorded audio and played it back fine, with very low latency. Why won't PT run? does pro tools run on a AMD Turion 64-bit processer? is there a later version of pro tools that will work with my hardware? will it cost me? dang, I don't wanna have to buy another laptop....

The first version of Pro Tools to work with SP2 (which is most likely what your new laptop is running... at least I would hope it is) is 6.4cs9.

Here is what you need to do:

1. Download and install 6.4
2. Download and install the 6.4cs6 plugin update
3. Download and install the 6.4cs9 program update
4. Download and install the Documentation
5. Download and install the latest PACE interlok drivers

Make sure you trash your prefs and databases after updating (How To is mentioned in the General Troubleshooting thread).

Anyway, my girlfriend bought a Compaq Turion 64 Laptop(which i understand is practically a HP), and for kicks, I installed my Mbox 2 on it when I was having some problems with my laptop. It didnt run very well. I hate to be a bringer of bad news, but, it may need to heavy tweaking to work right... I wouldnt be surprised if you had to disable some things, like the Wireless adapter, maybe the card reader...

AWESOME!! Thanks spkguitar. worked like a charm. my laptop is a HP pavilion dv8000. i disabled the wifi and it worked better.
