Default Convert PT 5.3.1 to 9

After using my PT 5.3.1 rig on a Windows 98SE machine for 10 years with essentially no hitches, I am getting a Mac and ProTools 9.

Two quick questions:
1. Is there any kind of PT 5.3.1 session conversion pathway to PT 9? Or do I have to mothball the old rig in order to recover any of the old material?

2. Can the iOS SDK v4 be used on the same rig as PT 9? Not at the same time obviously but without causing software collisions or other oddments?

On the older(pre 7) version of Pro Tools, you had to click a checkbox for Mac/PC compatibility. So your sessions may not transfer as is. Your best bet is to open each session and consolidate all the audio tracks so each is a single audio file/region, and all start from time 00:00:000. Then export regions as files and save a folder for each session of your new consolidated audio. While you are there in each session, choose File>Save Session Copy and check the box for PC/Mac compatibility and copy all audio files. The copy MAY open on PT9 on your new Mac, and if it doesn't, you can create new sessions and import your consolidated audio.

As long as you had the "enforce mac/pc compatibility" checkbox enabled, you should be able to open the old sessions with 9.

I have the iOS SDK on my machine with pro tools 9 and haven't had any weirdness so far.

Great! I was optimistic that I would not get a "forget it pal" response.
My sessions do have Mac/PC compatibility checked so I think I have a good pathway forward.

Thanks John and Albee.

I've been opening my old 5.1 sessions in HD9 all week. They work fine.
(I'm going from Mac G4 to intel Mac Westy 8core)
Was there a compatibility setting when using Windows Pro Tools? I thought that was only on Mac.
