Guitar tuner

Hi,

Has anyone come across any guitar tuners in Pro Tools? I'm certain there used to be one under 'other' in the plug-ins drawer. Any ideas, please?

Are you looking on a *mono* track?

InTune. It's a core plugin so should be there.

Since you are on Windows, if core plugins are not showing up see https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=423113.

There are also many free or $$ tuner plugins, and lots of opinions about which one/style is best.

Once upon a time there was the rather fantastic Peterson tuner but I believe it's strictly AU/VST at this point. That's (the StroboClip) what I actually use for all tuning because I'm addicted to its sweetened tunings, and I have quite a few Buzz Feiten guitars and it's a solid option for BF temperaments. Otherwise, as Darryl said, InTune gets the job done.

TU3 pedal all the way for me. Yes a good real physical Peterson rack strobe tuner is fantastic but for day to day stuff...not exotic tunings, just want a basic box. And I hated the TU family when first started using them.

I have tried scores of tuners as I probably have nearly scores of virtual options on AAX. The only type I use that reads (not to erratically) in cents.

For Pro Tools this is always the In-Tune plugin that comes with PTs. Great to have on screen with the strobe and cents readout for guitarists in and through the glass too!

Intune still shows up in my "Other" list.
I also have Waves GTR Tuner and BX_Tuner(UAD version). I find myself using the Boss tuner app on my phone most of the time.

I’ve used a ton of them…both on pro tools and my iPhone. Also plugins like Guitar Rig and others have a tuner built in. They will all work in a pinch but they all sort of suck. The best “no fuss” tuner is the TC Electronic Polytune Clip On Tuner. Snarks are hard to read and not nearly as accurate.

I shall look at that thread discussing the plugins issue in Windows as I'm still unable to get the InTune one to show up in the plugin drawers in Pro Tools. At this point, I must mention that my PT version is 2020.3.0. Could that be a factor?

Darryl, I'd like the tuner plugin on any track type...really just for tuning the guitar while sitting facing the screen getting ready to play/record through my audio interface. I've been 'trying' the Fender app but I find it a bit temperamental.
